I have seen the time when people would hate using JavaScript in their web pages. But, can you imagine any web or mobile application without JavaScript anymore? Well, not in real world. JavaScript frameworks are blessings for many software developers and last couple of years were very productive in-terms of front end development for mobile and web applications, but 2018 promises to bring even more growth to the IT sphere. I have written couple of articles in the past about bunch of JS frameworks including Knockout, Backbone, Jasmine, jQuery, Angular, and prototype. There was a time when I’d think that knockout will knock every other framework out. But, guess what? Knocked out got knocked out itself. Top 3 JavaScript frameworks by Irfan Ali Princeton New Jersey In this article, I will describe the 3 major JavaScript trends for the new year, which every front-end programmer needs to watch for in order to keep up to date with the times while working on their projects.

Vue.js

I think Vue.js is one of the most modern lightweight JavaScript framework. In last one year, vue.js has been consistently climbing the popularity chart and its almost on top. Top 3 JavaScript frameworks by Irfan Ali Princeton New Jersey Why is Vue.js at the top? First, it is a very easy-to-learn and flexible environment for creating front-ends, which allows writing code with a low possibility for error.  It was designed to help designers who had little programming experience to direct all their efforts to the creation of functional interfaces. In addition, Vue.js supports declarative rendering, asynchronous DOM updates, two-way data binding, strict adherence to web component specifications and simple integration with HTML templates.

Vue JS is an incredible JS framework and climbing high in popularity chart

Two years ago nobody would imagine that Vue.js would stand up to the competition of the rapidly growing Angular and React systems. No one expected that Vue.js would get to the top of the list. Well there are certainly great reasons for Vue.js to make it all the way to the top in the list. Its easy to learn and if you know the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, you could read the guide and start building things in no time. Also, I personally like the versatility of Vue.js. This is an incrementally adoptable ecosystem that scales between a library and a full-featured framework. Top 3 JavaScript frameworks by Irfan Ali Princeton New Jersey

AngularJS

I personally started using AngularJS in 2014 when I was trying to create a single page application for a registration system. Top 3 JavaScript frameworks by Irfan Ali Princeton New Jersey After doing research on so many frameworks including Backbone, Knockout, and Telerik Kendo, I convinced with AngularJS. Top 3 JavaScript frameworks by Irfan Ali Princeton New Jersey May be primary reason was AngularJS being a google product. AngularJS took a deep dive into trouble when google discontinues AngularJS1.0 and launched AngularJS 2.0 which was totally a new framework than AnularJS1. That was a panic time for some of the developers who were using AngularJS1.0 and had so many custom directives created to re-use them for their projects. But AngularJs2 turned the battle around and it climbed the steps very quickly to make it top in the chart. If you have not worked with Angular before, you should definitely familiarize yourself with its advantages. Let’s get started.

Angular JS by google makes it on top of the chart

First, this framework combines JavaScript with HTML and CSS. Second, it is ideal for teamwork, because the application it creates can be clearly divided into components – business logic and frontend. This is possible because the development environment is based on the MVVM (Model-View-View-Model) template. Third, Angular is ideal for the creation of scalable applications and supports simple integration with third-party libraries. This framework is often used to build dynamic mobile software because it uses two-way data binding, which increases the responsiveness of applications with an abundance of animated elements.

Overall, AngularJS is great framework but there are definitely some faults in AngularJS. Top 3 JavaScript frameworks by Irfan Ali Princeton New Jersey Those developers who like coding in “clean” JavaScript would suffer some disappoint in the initial acquaintance with Angular but then how many developers are actually write “clean” code 🙂 lol

Based upon research and feedback from developers community, AngularJS is proven “workhorse” which, with proper handling, makes it possible to build a modular expandable solution. I am sure that Angular will remain one of the best JavaScript frameworks in years to come. So, I’d suggest you to start learning AngularJS today. Wait for my next tutorials for AngularJS and other JS frameworks.

ReactJS

Facebook have created this extra-ordinary framework with proven record of having Facebook application running on this incredible framework. Within 5  years of its existence, react has proven its credibility and importance. Currently, React JS is on top of the list for so many reasons.

React JS by Facebook is very powerful JS framework

How does React compare to Angular, Ember, Backbone, et al? How do you handle data? How do you contact the server? What the heck is JSX? What is a “component”?

React is mentioned in the same breath as other JavaScript frameworks, but “React vs Angular” doesn’t make sense because they aren’t directly comparable. Angular is a complete framework (including a view layer), React is not. This is why React is confusing to understand, it’s emerging in an ecosystem of complete frameworks, but it’s mostly the view.

React gives you a template language and some function hooks to essentially render HTML. That’s all React outputs, HTML. Your bundles of HTML / Javascript, called “components,” can have their own internal state (such as which tab is selected in a tab view), but in the end you just barf out HTML.

First, it is a very easy-to-learn and flexible environment for creating front-end, which allows writing code with a low possibility for error. React is a library for building composable user interfaces. It encourages the creation of reusable UI components, which present data that changes over time. Top 3 JavaScript frameworks by Irfan Ali Princeton New Jersey Lots of people use React as the V in MVC. React abstracts away the DOM from you, offering a simpler programming model and better performance. React can also render on the server using Node, and it can power native apps using React Native. React implements one-way reactive data flow, which reduces the boilerplate and is easier to reason about than traditional data binding.

Here’s why you should use React:

  • Works great for teams, strongly enforcing UI and workflow patterns
  • UI code is readable and maintainable
  • Componentized UI is the future of web development, and you need to start doing it now.
